ABOUT US 

Detroit based music collective Dastardly Kids (DK) is bringing fun back to the dancefloor one sex-fueled anthem at a time. The outfit consists of founders Sonny Dulphi and Pat2Dope along with fellow crowd rockers Champagne Santana, DJ Ka!ros and SPRNG4EVR.

DK formed from humble beginnings in Ypsilanti, MI. Fellow high school misfits Sonny & Pat each found fellowship in the off kilter stylings of acts like MF DOOM, Wu-Tang Clan, and Parliament. Growing up in a religious trailer park community in Belleville, Michigan where he was the only person of color, Pat was introduced to music via his father’s expansive record collection, as well as the local indie rock scene. Captivated by the sounds of hardcore and screamo at an early age, he ultimately helped form a local band called SycAmour where he first learned the ropes of being a musician/performer. Sonny, born and raised in Detroit (before moving to Ypsilanti ,MI) would spend the majority of his early years tucked away in his bedroom learning the history and craft of hip-hop, borrowing records and CDs from older family members. At the age of eight he got into rapping and later beatmaking at the age of 13. The two spent years developing their artistic synergy powerfully, combining refined musical tastes with the fun and chemistry only found between brothers. In their early days, Sonny Dulphi and Pat2Dope likened their collaborative efforts to video game “boss battle music”, juxtaposing opera and soul over robust hip-hop beats, and projecting their messages through a “loonier, sillier” musical lens.

In later years DK would expand their ranks to include artists Champagne Santana, DJ Ka!ros and SPRNG4EVR. The addition pushed DK's sound to a whole new scope, each member bringing their own flavor and energy.

These days DK is capturing the Ghetto Tech sounds of their youth and amplifying it to help lead the new wave of modern dance music. DK draws from influences like DJ Assault, DJ Godfather, Teklife, DJ Earl, and Lakim. Their collaborations with the like of HiTech Detroit, Raprave, and Groove Pill are charting a new voyage for dance music to come.

Dastardly Kids is a refreshing, unique take on the dance genre infusing bustling hip-hop soundscapes and lyricism with nostalgic undertones, forward-thinking and clever storytelling, and a sonic mélange brewed to perfection, the collective has sanctioned space within the well-respected venues of Detroit and beyond. 15 years in the making, the Dastardly Kids are here to put feet on the dancefloor and butts in motion.
